Miramar Wholesale Nurseries embraces
MWN is a ServiceMaster company, and as such, adheres to specific
corporate objectives. These objectives permeate all areas
of the business. In fact, the training brochure outlining
the MWN code of conduct is entitled Do the Right Thing,
and is as much a statement of philosophy as a title. The brochure
expresses how each employee is expected to comply with the
corporate objectives, the first of which is To honor
God in all we do. Enclosed in the brochure is a letter
from the President and CEO of ServiceMaster, Carlos Cantu.
It states: Remember that ServiceMaster is synonymous
with the highest standards of conduct, accountability, trustworthiness
and integrity.

Ken Danzer is one
of the original team members of the Miramar Wholesale
Nurseries staff. Hes worked at the facility since
it opened, but been affiliated with founder Tom Ewing
for 20 years.
I started working for Tom when I was 16 years
old, he said. And hes been with him ever
since, learning inventory, ordering, sales, shipping
everything about the nursery business. Aside
from being valuable to the MWN operation, Ken is a wonderful
human being, Tom said. Hes the kind
of person who represents everything our business tries
to reflect.
Because of his years with the nursery, Ken often helps
out in other departments. He is familiar with the product,
and for timely delivery to customers, wants to know
when it will arrive, so he orders all the bedding color
plants. And he still receives calls from customers who
want to place orders through him, just because they
know him so well.
Thats probably what I like best about this
job, Ken said. Every day is different, every
day is a challenge. He also appreciates being
part of a growing company, one that consistently offers
new opportunities and challenges.
When hes not busy at the nursery, Ken is home
with his wife of 16 years, Lori, and their two-year-old
daughter Erin.

Miramar Wholesale Nurseries has a

MWN provides the Do the Right Thing brochure in both
English and Spanish. Many MWN employees speak little or no
English; so many forms, memos, and policies are available
in both languages to ensure associates are up-to-date on company
philosophy. Also, the nursery provides a pocket-sized, laminated
card that lists MWNs philosophy and mission statement.
The card is a convenient reference for associates.
Miramar Wholesale Nurseries believes in

Peruse the training brochure and see headings such as: Standards
and Values and Principles of the ServiceMaster
Ethic. Included as principles are honesty, integrity,
reliability, civility, and fairness. The brochure goes on
to outline each employees responsibilities in
the workplace. These responsibilities specifically cover
customer relationships, supplier relationships, shareholder
relationships, community relationships, and even the companys
responsibility to protect the environment.
