San Diego, CA Miramar Wholesale Nurseries,
San Diego's leading supplier of landscape plant materials and supplies,
is pleased to announce its acquisition of Vista Hill Nursery. Effective
February 17, 1998, Miramar Wholesale Nurseries will acquire Vista Hill
Nursery's plant inventory, which is being moved from Vista Hill's north
county yard in Vista to Miramar's nursery operations off I-805 at Governor
Drive.
Throughout its 12-year existence, Vista Hill has developed a reputation
in the landscaping industry for being a leading supplier of distinctive
trees. Integrating Miramar's convenient location and 150-acre inventory
with Vista Hill's unique selection of trees is a strategic move that
will enhance Miramar's existing inventory of shrubs and seasonal color,
while adding an important dimension to their product line.
Miramar's decision to acquire Vista Hill Nursery comes on the heels
of tremendous growth in the past year. Miramar recently has added a
commercial landscape center to serve the needs of the nursery's local
customers and is expanding the nursery's popular specialty lines, including
day lilies, phormium, ivy geranium, and an extensive line of one-gallon
perennials.
The addition of Vista Hill's stock will round out Miramar's already
extensive inventory. "We are working closely with the founders of Vista
Hill to ensure a smooth transition," says Tom Ewing, president of Miramar
Wholesale Nurseries. "Although trees have been a part of our product
line for many years, becoming a significant player in the tree industry
is in many ways a new business for us, and we can learn a lot from their
experience."
Miramar's transition will be facilitated by the addition of Bob Everett,
former owner of Vista Hill Nursery, to the Miramar staff. Everett will
work with Miramar as a project development coordinator, where he will
play an integral part in future development of the tree lines.
Although Vista Hill's inventory is being moved to Miramar's nursery
operations, the Vista Hill name will continue to be associated with
unique varieties of flowering trees and palms. Miramar Wholesale Nurseries
intends to perpetuate Vista Hill's plant materials and will integrate
the most unique trees into their existing inventory as a new product
line called the Vista Hill Collection.
Vista Hill Nursery was founded in 1982 by Ralph Evans and Bob Everett.
Classmates in Ornamental Horticulture at California Polytechnic University,
San Luis Obispo, these men had a vision of providing top quality flowering
trees and palms to the landscape trade. These varieties, which typically
take more time to grow and propagate, became the foundation from which
they grew their business. "When Tom and Jon informed us that they intended
to continue to use the Vista Hill Nursery name in promoting our flowering
trees and palms, Bob and I knew we had selected the right team to continue
the vision we had set for the company," says Ralph Evans, general partner,Vista
Hill Nursery.
Miramar Wholesale Nurseries is San Diego's leading supplier of landscape
plant materials and supplies. The nursery continually is custom-growing
shrubs, trees, seasonal color, and groundcovers for future projects
in and around the San Diego area. Most of San Diego's commercial properties,
institutions, property managers, and commercial landscapers are clients
of Miramar Wholesale Nurseries. In addition, Miramar's fully stocked,
six-acre commercial landscape center serves the immediate needs of its
San Diego customers.
