Miramar Wholesale Nurseries Expands Territories

Orange County, CA. - A banner sales year has led to personnel promotions and changes at Miramar Wholesale Nurseries (MWN). In an effort to maintain and enhance service to its growing market, MWN has created a territorial sales staff to provide more personal service to outlying areas. Five promotions resulted.

MWN divided Southern California into six territories, with one sales person appointed to each. The territorial sales team remains on the road, visiting clients on site to help determine the best plant materials for their individual needs.

Kent Berchiolli will oversee the new territorial sales team, as well as the out-of-state sales team and the three commercial landscape centers. Berchiolli joined the MWN staff as a Sales Specialist in December. With the creation of the new territories, the nursery recognized the value of one central sales manager. He has more than 25 years of sales experience in the nursery industry. Previously he worked for Hines Nursery as Regional Sales Manager and National Key Account Manager, and for Flynn Rainbow Nurseries as General Manager.

Karen Hill, former manager of MWN's San Diego commercial landscape center, has taken on North Coastal County as her territory. Hill has more than 20 years of nursery experience, previously working with Nakase Brothers in Laguna Hills and Bordier's in Irvine. She joined the MWN staff in 1996 and is known for consistently giving the company~Rs clientele superior customer service.

Robin LeLevier stepped up to take over Hill's former job as manager of the San Diego commercial landscape center. LeLevier began working with MWN in 1998 through a cooperative program with Cuyamaca College where she was studying Landscape Nursery and Floral Design.

Ron Forkner's keen interest in plants led him to a career in the nursery industry in 1979. Since then, he's done a little of everything, from retail and wholesale nursery sales, to sales of exotics, palms, cacti, succulents and even indoor plants. Forkner joined the MWN staff in 1996 as a salesman in the San Diego commercial landscape center, then moved up to territory sales in February 2002. He covers South San Diego County.

Ty Hayward grew up on a farm in Oregon and knew he wanted to continue working outdoors. So he earned a Bachelor of Science from Chico State in Agriculture with an emphasis in Horticulture. Hayward joined the nursery staff five months ago as a sales rep in the Lake Forest facility, and has more than eight years of sales experience. In February he took on the territory that includes North Coastal Orange County and Long Beach.

The remaining territories are handled as before, although the borders have altered somewhat. Christine MacGregor in Inland San Diego and Imperial Counties, Mike Davis in South Orange County, and Sam Banuelos in Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernadino Counties comprise the remaining territorial sales team.

Miramar Wholesale Nurseries is Southern California's leading supplier of landscape plant material and supplies. MWN grows a wide variety of perennials, shrubs, and trees at each of their three locations for projects in and around the region. Their fully stocked will-call facilities in San Diego, Irvine/Lake Forest, and San Juan Capistrano serve the needs of commercial properties, institutions, property managers, and commercial landscapers. MWN is a member of TruGreen LandCare, a ServiceMaster company.
