Celebrating Arbor Day

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. – Thanks to two donations by Miramar Wholesale Nurseries (MWN), both the State of California and the City of San Juan Capistrano planted two new trees in celebration of Arbor Day.

“We grow trees!” said Russell Enos, a sales associate at MWN. “Most of the time people ask the city or state for donations; we wanted to give to them something instead.” So the San Juan Capistrano branch of MWN donated two 24-inch box trees in honor of Arbor Day.

The tree donated to the state is a Pinus torreyana or Torrey Island Pine. It is planted at Doheney State Beach in Dana Point. The City of San Juan Capistrano planted its pine, a Schinus molle – better known as the California Pepper Tree – at the San Juan Creek Park. It’s part of a series of Pepper Trees the park is planting to create a shade environment for a playground.

Miramar Wholesale Nurseries is Southern California’s leading supplier of landscape plant material and supplies. The nursery grows a wide variety of perennials, shrubs, and trees at each of their three locations for projects in and around the region. The fully stocked commercial landscape centers in San Diego, Irvine/Lake Forest, and San Juan Capistrano serve the needs of commercial properties, institutions, property managers, and commercial landscapers.
