San Diego, Ca. -
Brighten up that trellis with Mandevilla ‘Sunshine,’ a new shrub from New Zealand that thinks it’s a vine. This evergreen twining climber has light green oval leaves and clusters of bright yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers. It’s perfect for training up a wall or trellis, viney but not too aggressive.
Miramar Wholesale Nurseries (MWN) brought Mandevilla ‘Sunshine’ from New Zealand in response to the demand for Dipladenia ‘Red Riding Hood.’
“We thought this would be a nice alternative choice for landscapers,” said Suzie Wiest, branch manager at MWN. ‘Red Riding Hood’ is similar to ‘Sunshine,’ with a hot pink trumpet shaped flower instead of a yellow flower, and is popular with landscape architects across the state.
Mandevilla ‘Sunshine’ blooms throughout the summer, and prefers semi-shade to direct sun. It can withstand a minimum temperature of 30°F. For more information, see a commercial landscape center professional at any one of MWN’s three locations, San Diego, San Juan Capistrano, or Lake Forest.
Miramar Wholesale Nurseries is Southern California’s leading supplier of landscape plant material and supplies. MWN grows a wide variety of perennials, shrubs, and trees at each of their three locations for projects in and around the region. Their fully stocked will-call facilities in San Diego, Irvine/Lake Forest, and San Juan Capistrano serve the needs of commercial properties, institutions, property managers, and commercial landscapers.
